Getting in the STRETCH

So often we get caught up in doing the same old thing. Same old treadmill, same old park where we walk, same old weight set etc. While these workout routines are certainly better than doing absolutely nothing, they can get stale and a person can either get sick of doing it or reach a point where their body no longer responds. This is one of the reasons why I didn’t stick to my routines in the past and my weight would go up and down and BACK up again. These past couple of years after my significant weight loss and the start of the GYSB®Movement I have finally figured a lot of this out (Notice I didn’t say I figured ALL of it out). I needed to explore and find more than one or two things that “called” me. I needed to get in the STRETCH. I got OUT of my comfort zone and I now consider myself an athlete. I’m not a great athlete but I AM one nonetheless. I compete against myself. I’m always trying to do better than the last time. I’m always trying to find some way to add LIFE to my workouts.

My latest discovery is is cycling. I am such a novice that it feels weird to even use the word cycling. However, the 36 miles that I rode yesterday were more than a “bike ride”….even if I was the slow poke in the lane. I felt like I was in a far away place and we HAD to make it back because there was no other choice. It was an adventure and I am already craving more. I have so many friends who do a lot of different workout activities (that’s GREAT for me because it keeps me motivated/excited). My friend Christina loves to cycle and she has been kind and patient enough to let me tag along on a couple of rides. I am LOVING this new addition to my fitness schedule.

I want you to take the next couple of months to EXPLORE your fitness options. Talk to your friends who are very active and learn about new things available in your area. If you don’t know a lot of active people then it’s time you find some. One of the most important things you can do to maintain a healthy lifestyle is to surround yourself with others who are interested/determined to do the same. Being a little uncomfortable might be the best thing you can do for your life—> Get In The STRETCH ~GYSB®

You filmed while riding uphill? No longer a novice! hahaha. I think I slowed you down this weekend with these injuries. I hope it gets better soon. Starting to wonder if it’s my shoes. I might try riding in my nike free runs sometime this week just to see if it’s any different.
